Paying for a College Education

Follow these easy steps to apply for Federal financial aid and student loans at Minnesota Valley.

  1. Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA can be obtained from your high school guidance counselor, college financial aid office, or at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

  2. Receive your Student Aid Report (SAR). Once the FAFSA is processed, the SAR is created. Allow 2-6 weeks after completion of the FAFSA to receive the SAR.

  3. Receive your Award Letter. The school(s) use data from your SAR to determine your financial aid award and eligibility for student loans.

  4. Complete the Master Promissory Note (MPN). Turn in the Master Promissory Note to the school or to Minnesota Valley.

    Master Promissory Notes:

      4Stafford

      4Plus

      4Consolidation

  5. If financial aid award & student loan funds are not sufficient to cover all educational costs or you do not qualify for either Stafford loan, your parents or guardian can apply for a Plus Loan (if you are a dependent undergraduate student).
