Tips
- Never give your Password to anyone, and do not write it in a place that can be
easily accessed.
- Avoid Passwords that
are easily guessed (like 1234, the last four digits of your
phone number, social security number, or consecutive numbers).
Make sure your Password truly is unique -- and something you will
remember.
- If you have not signed on to your account in three
months or more, you will be requested to sign on using your
Social security Number as your password. We apologize for the
inconvenience; however, this allows us to maintain a set
number of user licenses with our computer vendor. To
prevent the timeout of your password, we invite you to
sign
on to online banking each month, so that your password remains
active.
If you forget
your Password, contact your Credit Union for
assistance. Call or e-mail MVFCU: 507-387-3055 or 800-247-0522 or info@mnvalleyfcu.coop.

Minnesota Valley has launched Multi-Factor
Authentication security for Online Banking. Multi-Factor Authentication
is designed to make Online Banking more secure for our members. Members will
also be required to select and answer a series of challenge questions
(example: What is your pet's name?). Minnesota Valley continually works
to keep our members and their information safe and private. Multi-factor
authentication is just one more way that protecting our members and
their money.
How will it affect me as an Online Banking member?
Initially, you will be required to re-enroll in Online
Banking and prompted randomly to answer 5 challenge questions, such as what
is your pet's name, or what is your favorite color. From that point on,
your Online Banking experience will be very similar to what you
experience now. You will also have the option to create a separate
username (instead of account number) for logging onto Online Banking.

What is Multi-Factor Authentication?
It is a process of verifying your identity using at
least 2 separate, distinct means of identification. The most common
distinct means of identification used in Internet Security are outlined
below.
-
Something you know. This is usually a username and password. Always keep your username and passwords
secure.
-
Something you are. This can be a combination of many
factors such as: identifying characteristics of your computers,
online banking habits, typing characteristics, location (IP
Address), etc.
-
Something you have. This is most commonly a secure
token or other number generating device.
